Check out the latest offering in the Echota family on a high plateau landscape under the gaze of Grandfather Mountain.

While there are many resort communities that sell off their best properties first, Echota has never followed that model, and the company’s latest offering proves the case. Chalakee, which means “people who live in the mountains” in Cherokee, is a high plateau landscape with views that go on forever in all directions.

“This is a very unique property,” says Foscoe Companies owner Mark Harrill, who has been planning Chalakee for several years now. “It features a series of plateaus and ridges all at different angles, giving owners a lot of varied perspectives and views.”

While Harrill admits that some may think he’s awfully daring launching a new community in the current economic climate, he begs to differ. “The factors that led to the growth of the second home market haven’t left us,” he points out. “In today’s market, a lot of people need a place to get release from their everyday lives.”

The town homes and condominiums of Chalakee will be a very different product offering from those at Echota and Echota on the Ridge, both of which rank as the most successful resort communities in the High Country. The architecture will be timber frame in style with metal roofs, nine foot ceilings, and an especially welcome new amenity- outdoor kitchen style grills with hoods. Prices for one-bedroom condominiums start at $199,900.

Harrill is excited about the launch of Chalakee and what it means for all of Foscoe’s properties as a whole. He says new real estate development is essential for keeping the market fresh and interesting to buyers. “This new product will help drive resales and rentals as well as putting a new option on the market.”
