Foscoe Owners Named Employer of the Year

Boone Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes Mark and Missy Harrill for their dedicated work in the community.

The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce recently awarded the 2008 JobLink Employer of the Year Award to Foscoe Companies owners Mark and Missy Harrill. The Ninth Annual Alfred Adams Leadership Awards Luncheon honors businesses and community leaders who work to make the area a better place to live.

The Harrills’ employees praised the family-like work environment the couple has created and their capacity to mentor and encourage. “There’s no question that Mark and Missy have high expectations,” said Foscoe Realty broker Jonathan Lehman. “They’ve helped me to grow as an employee and a person. Whenever I have a question, Mark is always there to help me, no matter how busy he may be.”

The nominations also recognized the Harrills’ community involvement and charitable contributions. “Mark and Missy seem to make a point to use their good fortune to improve the community in all aspects,” explained Sales Office Coordinator Amy Odom. “Mark has made it his mission to be eco-conscious in his development techniques, working hand in hand with the High Country Conservancy and the Economic Development Commission to retain the natural beauty of our mountains.”

Missy Harrill is the president of the Watauga Education Foundation. She is also a member of the AF Bank Board of Directors and manages Foscoe Rentals. Together, she and Mark provide employment to over 400 area families.
