Now Is A Great Time of Year
The saying goes, “If you don’t like the weather, don’t worry, it will change.” Nowhere is that more true than the North Carolina High Country. Winter snows and the happy sounds of skiers give way to a breathtaking spring, a cool, temperate summer and the scorching color of fall.
Boone, NC has an elevation of roughly 3,333 feet. The area enjoys what is called a subtropical Highland climate, which is rare in the South. Summer highs average jut 78 degrees Fahrenheit, which is appreciably low for the region. On the other hand, winter has more in common with New England than South. For instance, Boone receives approximately 40 inches of snowfall annually while North Carolina receives less than 10 inches every year.
