There are lots of reasons to love a mountain home. The peace and tranquility. The crisp mountain air. But there is perhaps nothing more gratifying, more mesmerizing than a long-range mountain view. The North Carolina High Country has more than its fair share of breathtaking vistas. Many of the most dramatic come from the region’s exalted mountain peaks.
But some of the most inspiring, energizing and calming views of the High Country aren’t available from any mountaintop. In fact, some of the region’s most memorable views are visible from your living room or deck at Echota. On a clear day, you can see 60 miles across the mountainscapes. Residents at Echota generally enjoy views of iconic Grandfather Mountain or the expanse of the Watauga River Valley. Echota residents get the feeling that The Blue Ridge Mountains are all their own.
The Profile of Grandfather Mountain

Grandfather Mountain was named because of the apparent profile of an old man’s face as he lies on his back. The distinguished gentleman’s profile is clearly evident from Echota.
The Watauga River Valley

The Watauga River flows past Echota and is directly adjacent to the community’s Riverfront Park. Formed by the Shanty Springs Branch and Green Ridge Branch, the Watauga does not flow east toward the Atlantic but west toward the Mississippi River.
The Blue Ridge Mountains don’t belong to anyone. But at Echota, you can own the best the mountains have to offer.
