Blowing Rock Restaurant an Echota Homeowners’ Favorite

Many Echota residents are already familiar with The Best Cellar, a restaurant that has successfully made its home in Blowing Rock for the past 32 years as the area’s premier “mountain casual” dining experience.  A longtime friend of Echota developers, Mark and Missy Harrill, co-owner Rob Dyer says, “Echota owners are good to us. We have many regulars that stop in on their way to their properties or catch us when they leave. It’s always good to see them.”

The Best Cellar Restaurant serves American cuisine with High Country panache in a variety of dining options. Patrons may choose to eat in front of the dining room’s large stone fireplace, on an outdoor veranda overlooking a wooded stream, or downstairs in the quiet seclusion of the restaurant’s “wine cellar.” With its fine dining offerings and its casual atmosphere, Dyer believes The Best Cellar reflects what Echota homeowners are looking for in their lives – the opportunity to live well in a relaxed mountain setting. “Our restaurant emulates what Mark builds,” says Dyer. “People respond to that.”

After a fire in 2006 destroyed the original property, Dyer and his partner Lisa Stripling moved the restaurant to The Inn at Ragged Gardens, a popular Blowing Rock inn. The Best Cellar features fresh seafood, veal, and rack of lamb, and signature items like duck and grouper.
